Church Music - introduction

Welcome to the Church music Welcome page. You can access some of David's church music compositions through this page. Where singing is involved, I am delighted by the contributions of friends who have been brave enough to record in my garden shed.

Let all mortal flesh keep silence

This is sung by Kayleigh Conway-Jarrett, a student at Southampton University.

The words are from the Liturgy of St. James (Fourth century A.D.) It was translated by Gerald Moultrie (1829-85)

The piece is for sopranos, altos and men but just the soprano line is sung here.

Lords Prayer

A unison setting of the Lord's Prayer for soloist or congregation. The opening melody is the introduction for the Cantor - Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us.

The singer is Vera Giblin.

Very sadly, Vera died on 25th November 2010. She had a beautiful voice. She will be greatly missed not only by her immediate family but also by the community in which she lived and which she served unstintingly.

A setting of John Arlott's famous harvest hymn. Words used by permission and again featuring Vera Giblin (1937-2010) and her superb warm and human voice.
