With the march of technology this has changed. The piece of music can now be heard while the score can be seen from beginning to end. This is done mostly electronically.
One exception to the above, is my Oboe Sonata. John Anderson is Principal Oboist of both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra, based in London. He very kindly visited my shed to record my sonata amongst the coffee stains and insect corpses A man of unbelievable talent and tremendous kindliness of spirit. Also, volunteer amateur singers have contributed live vocal music.
A special note about the singers.
The Church Music and Songs pages contain vocal music. My profound thanks go to the singers who recorded in my garden shed. This is far from being a professional facility and the acoustics fall rather short of a professional recording studio. You might occasionally hear the complaint of an enthusistic background pidgeon. Most gratifying of all, though, is the talent, tolerance, wit and patience of the singers - to say nothing of their charm and good humour. I am deeply grateful to them all.
